Evaluation of pattern of prescription for Asthma : A multicentre prospective observational study from Pakistan

Asthma is a common allergic reaction and number of drugs are available. This study was conducted to evaluate the prescribing pattern usage anti-asthma medications at different medical setups in Hyderabad. The from August 2017 July 2018. A total 1000 patients diagnosed with asthma were recruited. pre-designed, detailed questionnaire used for their data collection. Their prescriptions collected compare them standard guidelines GINA. assessed regarding type therapy, route administration, single or multiple treatments, class drugs, doses, frequency. Demographically, more asthmatics found be males (i.e 73.5%), 46.5% adults, 58.3% urban areas 51.68% sample had outdoor jobs, while 41.5% illiterate people asthmatic. major persistent 65.3%. maximum prescription 85.5% management combined therapy. From long-term use, monotherapy ICS group reported considerable (44.13%) (i.e. Beclomethasone 70% Budesonide 7%). Prescriptions routes administration comparatively higher (79.5%). concluded that male, young, urban, jobs likely get asthma. Preventer prescribed which Fluticasone + Salmeterol preferred. oral inhalational selected more. treatment consistent guidelines.
